The Judge Farin Powell Books

The Judge Farin Powell Books
Wow! Welcome to the world of the DC Judicial System! I love a good crime thriller, but this book has it all-- intrigue, crime, a flawed judge, a missing daughter, a lawyer and a detective on the case, and a little splash of romance for good measure. Judge McNeil is extremely harsh in his sentences which lead to his kidnapping and being drugged. He is threatened to alter his judgement on a current case. His kidnapping is also apparently tied to the disappearance of his daughter, Daphne. It takes a defense lawyer and a detective teaming up to get to the bottom of it all, and there is no time to spare!I loved the premise of this story from the get go. The characters are well written and the reader is drawn into the story quickly. This could easily be a movie! I look forward the Farin Powell's next crime drama offering!

The Judge Farin Powell Books Reviews
Judge Walter McNeil is a tough judge. He makes sure that all who stand in front of him pay for the crimes they commit. But after he sentences Leroy to a lengthy prison term the judge's life changes forever. Leroy's family falls apart while Leroy is in jail and Leroy blames the judge, so Leroy plots his revenge. Revenge that includes kidnapping the judge, then causing him to be arrested so the judge can feel what it is like to be in prison. The judge's defense attorney turns out to be a woman who has tried many cases in front of the judge, and due partly to the judge has quit her job in one city to move to another. Then there is the story of the judge's daughter. There are so many twists and turns to this novel. Just when I thought I had it figured out something new came up. I really, really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it. I can't wait for Mr. Powell's next novel.
I haven't read a crime thriller in awhile and found this one to be entertaining. There were times that I found myself a bit lost with the story line. The author did a great job at leaving little tidbits throughout the novel and fully bringing everything together. There is quite a bit of detail and the reader can definitely see not only how the judge has gotten to the point he has, but how things have escalated to his kidnapping. The touch of violence, romance and thrill of finding out what happens kept me wanting to read more. Of course with most books I've read the ending leaves you wanting more and hoping for a sequel. The book overall was well written, but I felt at times that there was so much packed into one novel that it could have been a little more spread out. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys something in the legal-thriller genre.
Judge Walter McNeil has had some tragedies in his life, including the loss of his wife and the disappearance of his daughter. These events have caused him to be a tough judge in the courtroom. He tends to sentence criminals to the longest sentence possible. Defense attorneys try to avoid being in his courtroom, knowing how difficult it is to get their clients off or at least some leniency on their sentences. Some of the defendants he sentenced go for revenge because of the bad things in their lives that they blame on the long sentences set by Judge McNeil.
This is much more than a courtroom drama. Kidnapping, drugs, and yes, romance, all fit into this story.
The very beginning is a little confusing, but doesn't take long before everything comes together.
Farin Powell writes in a way that the reader feels they know the characters and can envision all that is happening in the story.
Extremely well written, had me hooked almost from the very beginning!
Not bad over all. I had a hard time getting into this story, but once the Judge was kidnapped it got quite interesting. Mcneil was a ruthless Judge after his wife died and all who were brought in front of him at court were sentenced terribly. The criminals were given usually more than they deserved. A few of those who were sentenced kidnapped and tortured the Judge. Just when the judge thought he could find a way out of his predicament, the kidnappers threaten death and torture to the Judge's daughter who has been missing for years. Implying that she is under their control as well. The only hope is Amamda Perkins, a lawyer who has been in his courtroom many times before and seen the harsh punishments. This was an interesting Legal thriller with some good twists and turns. Once I got into this book i didn't want to put it down. I think I only paid a couple dollars for this book and it was worth it for me.
Wow! What a compelling legal thriller with a plot that rivals writings by Patterson and Grisham.
Judge McNeil is known to be a ruthless Judge in the courtroom when sentencing defendants, even more so after the death of his wife, giving them the maximum sentences for their crimes, despite many first offenders with what some may consider minor offenses, i.e., dealing pot, etc. The story opens with Judge McNeil being kidnapped by what turns out to be three former defendants who blame the Judge for their brutal sentences and had their lives change dramatically after being sentenced by the Judge. They all met in prison and devised a plan to "get even" with the Judge. As the story unfolds there are more twists and turns than Lombard Street in San Francisco and more characters are introduced into the plot. The Judge's daughter who disappeared after the death of his wife, the Judge's sister, and all of them hold family secrets.
As the plot unfolds you will find yourself riveted to the next page, chapter, and the ending. Definitely a profound criminal thriller mystery all rolled into one.
